ive started growing tomatoes at home with a mixture of soil and compost… is that organic?
This is not the best, but it is a GOOD laymen definition of OG:
"ORGANIC GARDENING – the science and art of gardening by incorporating the entire landscape design and environment to improve and maximize the garden soil's health, structure, texture, as well as maximize the production and health of developing plants without using synthethic commercial fertilizers, pesticides, or fungicides."

Generally yes.
Aslong as you are not using pesticide or herbicides and no chemical fertilizers it is essentiall organic.
Depends on where you get the compost and what's in it.

yes your mixture is organic. Organic gardeners don't use chemicals. That's as nontechnical as I can be. (chemicals include MiracleGro.)

Sort of, but how are you watering. Are you using tap water that is loaded with chemicals. If so, no.
