First it was the spinach, now it’s the tomatoes. Instead of laying blame, let’s accept that we as a planet are over populated and the massive amount of food required to maintain such a population will inevitably lead to the mishandling of our food. The solution, grow your own! Tomatoes and spinach are at the start of this future crisis, so why not follow nature’s example and start your own garden with spinach and tomatoes. Tomatoes are easy to grow. These types of agricultural problems are going to continue to increase of the next few decades. Be prepared by growing your own! I’ll tell you the secret to my tomatoes… start with good quality organic potting soil. Don’t buy cheap $4 bags from building supply companies with so-called gardening centers attached, those are mostly bark filler. If they sell Miracle-Gro, and their soils, you are in the wrong place. You want an organic soil that is based in Earthworm castings and Bat Guano. Thought you never had a green thumb? Try quality organic potting soil, and you will find that it really wasn’t you.
Anyway, that is pretty much the gist of everything I said in the video. Thanks for reading.

Very good advice. If I had just a tiny bit of land around me, I would most certainly do this. But I live in apartment, in an urban environment, although, I do have a little porch/balcony. Probably not big enough though, to plant anything that I could survive on. That’s why I buy from the local farmer’s markets. Any further ideas would be welcome ๐

I wouldn’t even know how to help you in Florida! I went there once when I was 16 years old for a week. The humidity was unbelievable. I guess I’m spoiled by the dry climate. Makes gardening easier too. At least for me since my knowledge is based on Northern California.

Giving advice on …
Giving advice on growing pot, believe it or not, can technically be constrained as conspiracy. Under a law passed in 1998, you can not ist in the creation of an illegal substance. It was aimed at methamphetamine recipes on the internet, but can be used by the federal government as conspiracy for cultivation. Tomatoes. Definitely tomatoes.

Realistically …
Realistically people would not be able to completely fulfill their needs, but every bit reduces strain on this overpopulated planet. It will not continue to sustain these types of consumptive demands. Hydroponic systems can be used on the roof of a skyskraper, which actually can outproduce soil.

I’m one of those who has been convinced I totally lack a green thumb. Everything I’ve tried to plant has just withered, sheesh. Before we moved into this house though, someone planted aloe vera plants all around, and they just thrive. And I took a cutting from this cactus vine that was climbing up my neighbor’s tree, and stuck it in the ground next to the tree in my front yard. The cactus survived, but the tree died and had to be cut down. I don’t know of those things were related though…
